Course Description

Course Description:

Thanks to a growing body of research supporting its benefits, mindfulness-based programs are cropping up in rehabilitation centers, schools and in hospitals. Although meditation has been around for thousands of years, mindfulness has recently gained clinical efficacy for the management of various mental health conditions aimed to improve overall well-being. This course delves into the evidence behind this increasingly popular behavioral intervention, highlighting the key principles of practice, and its implication in pediatric rehabilitation.

Practitioners will gain an insight to the step-by-step process to not only incorporate the practice of mindfulness for their own wellbeing but will also learn a variety of techniques and strategies to effectively teach mindfulness to children to promote self-regulation, treat general anxiety and address executive functioning deficits. After the completion of this course, practitioners will be able to add mindfulness to the toolbox of evidence-based interventions and further promote the well-being of their clients.
